Tigh Na Bata is a modern bungalow offering comfortable holiday accommodation for up to 6 guests and benefiting from full double glazing and LPG central heating. The lounge is a generous size with large patio windows giving superb views down to the shore line and across loch Melfort. There is a spacious kitchen/diner, equipped with dishwasher, double oven (electric) with halogen hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. Off the kitchen is a south facing conservatory with cane seating. There are 3 bedrooms capable of sleeping 6 adults, the master bedroom has en-suite shower and there is a family bathroom which has a bath and further shower.
The local services include a general store, post office, tea rooms, licensed hotel with pub and restaurant, and Kilmelford yacht haven. A more comprehensive range of services, including shops and leisure facilities are available in Oban.
For wildlife enthusiasts, there are oystercatchers, herons, kestrels, buzzard and eagles, also grey seals and otters, so don't forget your binoculars and camera. There are also many walks around the loch Melfort area to enjoy the marvellous scenery with views of the surrounding islands.
The area is a wonderful base from which to explore the Scottish West Highlands and Islands. A short drive south is the renowed Arduaine Gardens. Further south you can watch the boats using the Crinan Canal between the South of Jura and Loch Fyne. A few miles north and westward are the Isle of Seil and the bridge across the Atlantic. Oban, often referred to as the Gateway to the Isles because of the many ferry routes and day trips that originate form there, is approximately 20 minutes drive to the north. The island of Mull and the ever popular Tobermory make an excellent day trip. Boat trips to view the wildlife, Corryvreckan Whirlpool, Jura, Scarba, the Garvellach Islands and beyond, also operate from Ardfern, Seil Island, Crinan and Oban.
Horse riding is available from the local Lunga riding stables near Craobh Haven where you can ride into the forest or along the shore line. Many cycle trails are available along the Kilmartin glen, with plenty of opportunities for mountain biking on the Craignish Peninsula too.
