Accommodation: A spacious self contained open plan apartment with comfortable lounge and gas fire with dining and kitchen area. There are large French Windows which open out on to your own private south facing verandah with garden furniture, an ideal place to while away the hours with coffee and/or glass of wine overlooking the woodland estate and ducks at the stream. This very roomy apartment is attractively furnished and decorated in traditional style. There are two bedrooms each benefiting from its own en-suite shower and WC. Included in the cost of the holiday rental is access to a shared indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, outdoor hot tub, play park & BBQ - internal access from the apartment to the swimming pool. Free fishiing available for guests.

Pitcairlie Estate has 4 apartments, and 1 lodge sleeping a maximum of 21 guests in total, a great venue for larger parties, however all apartments can be rented out seperately. The main house at Pitcairlie can also accommodate weddings and take any extra guests if your party consists of more than 21. Please get in touch if you are looking to book for a wedding.

Parking: Space for parking is available at the Pitcairlie Mansion House itself

Accessibility: The apartment is all on the lower level and therefore could be suitable for people with restricted mobility issues.

Area: Pitcairlie Lodge in Newburgh is situated along the Firth of Tay, which in many spots has lovely unspoilt views over the water towards Dundee. This is an outstanding area known for its extensive sand and mudflats, its population of common seals and for its wintering birds such as oystercatcher, bar-tailed godwit, shelduck and velvet scoter. Along the Firth of Tay shoreline there is good access to much of the shoreline and good wildlife watching opportunities. At some 15 km in length, the reedbed on the north shore of the inner estuary is thought to be the most extensive in Britain. The closest town is two miles away and the attractive village of Auchtermuchty, while medieval Falkland with its historic palace and picturesque village is just two miles further on. This is where one of the first episodes of Outlander was filmed - to replicate 1940's Inverness. Both Auchtermuchty and Falkland offer a selection of shops, inns and restaurants. This is a good base both to discover Fife and Perthshire being only 20 minutes drive to Perth or 30 minutes St Andrews - and the lovely fishing villages of East Neuk of Fife and the Fife Coastal Path all within easy reach.

Our Opinion: This is a quiet and peaceful place to stay with many of the guests enjoying the walks in the ground, Pitcairlie sits in its own120-acre wildlife haven of woods, streams and rolling hills with extensive walks in the ground available for its guests. The apartment is furnished and decorated in a style in keeping with the age of the house, and because of the location you can be assured of a lovely relaxing retreat. Having access to a modern swimming pool, hot tub & sauna at the Mansion House is a great bonus too!

Cancellation Policy

Once a booking deposit has been paid and the booking confirmed in writing, the Tenant is liable for the whole amount of the rent for the period booked.

Any cancellations must be made in writing and acknowledged by us.

  • If notice of cancellation is given more than 8 weeks before your arrival date, 25% of the total tariff is non-refundable
  • If notice of cancellation is given with less than 8 weeks of your arrival date, the full amount is payable.


Holiday / Cancellation Insurance. Once booked, the Tenant is liable for the complete Property rental costs. As such, it is strongly recommended that the Tenant take out suitable holiday / cancellation insurance to cover costs incurred by unexpected holiday cancellation. Booking Protect, which is a cancellation policy, is offered as an option at the time of booking via the TS Holiday Lets website. Booking Protect is an independent company and in no way related to TS Holiday Lets.
