A perfect house for group bookings! This historic mansion house goes back to the Jacobean era or possibly even the Elizabethan period of the early 16th Century. So for anyone interested in history, this is a real gem to stay in. At this time It was popular for the Aristocracy to collect things from Europe or abroad as new countries and cultures were just being discovered, these places were full of exciting and magical artefacts to adorn their homes. It became popular to show off these items at lavish dinner parties, banquets and balls, so the prospect of staying in a building with such a rich history is quite a unique privilege. You yourself can enjoy the experience this beautiful property evokes, entertain in one of the luxurious living areas, relax, read and educate with a good book in the drawing room or walk and admire the acres of stunning grounds that surround the mansion. Although fully renovated and modernised with all the mod-cons that allow for our contemporary lifestyles, the house however, still retains a lot of the original features from the period. The furnishings, sometimes original, replicate the bespoke hand crafted furniture and fine decor of the period. The overall style compliments the era and is in keeping with the antique historical importance a house like this has.

All the rooms are very large and lofty with original features, downstairs is the copious dining room made big enough for a Ceilidh with a grand table seating 30-35 people and access externally via some lovely french doors. A great space for entertaining. Also on this floor is a big bar room with chesterfield seating perfect for socialising & for those summer months, the enormous bright conservatory which overlooks the garden and leads out to a large patio with furniture, very handy indeed for enjoying the warmth of the sun. The kitchen is also huge, still showcasing where the original ovens and hearth would have been, in place of this is a brand new electric Aga with plenty well equipped cupboards that wrap all around the room, there is also the bonus of a central island, a very useful modern addition. If you then follow the graceful spiral staircase up to the magnificent drawing room where elegant murals, intricate wood carvings and cornices adorn the walls, the large fireplace is still the centre point of the room. Then move on through to the sleeping quarters, there are a few bedrooms on this floor and the rest on the 3rd floor, in total there are 7 bedrooms & bathrooms, 6 of which are doubles, then one twin room, 6 of the 7 bathrooms are en-suite and the 7th room has a separate family bathroom right across from it. If all of this isn't enough, you also have use of the house leisure facilities such as indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, BBQ area & play-park. There is now also a brand new Hot tub (summer 2017) which can be paid for directly to the owner per stay at £30 on a first come first serve basis. The house is surrounded by acres of well established grounds, pathways and lakes, one of which can now be used for fishing. This property really has so much to offer that you wouldn't need to go anywhere else. A truly unique experience encapsulating a little Downton Abbey charm.


Our Opinion: This holiday apartment is ideally situated for exploring the central belt of Scotland, a little gem in the countryside, so great for a relaxing trip away, with the added bonus of the pool, sauna, hot tub and on-site options.

Cancellation Policy

Once a booking deposit has been paid and the booking confirmed in writing, the Tenant is liable for the whole amount of the rent for the period booked.

Any cancellations must be made in writing and acknowledged by us.

  • If notice of cancellation is given more than 8 weeks before your arrival date, 25% of the total tariff is non-refundable
  • If notice of cancellation is given with less than 8 weeks of your arrival date, the full amount is payable.


Holiday / Cancellation Insurance. Once booked, the Tenant is liable for the complete Property rental costs. As such, it is strongly recommended that the Tenant take out suitable holiday / cancellation insurance to cover costs incurred by unexpected holiday cancellation. Booking Protect, which is a cancellation policy, is offered as an option at the time of booking via the TS Holiday Lets website. Booking Protect is an independent company and in no way related to TS Holiday Lets.
