Full Accommodation Details :
Marchburn Cottage is pure escapism, deep in the heart of Glen Clova, within the Cairngorms National Park. The cottage is cosy with the interior decor reflecting its location and surroundings. Far reaching views down the glen through the French windows, where you can watch the stunning wildlife in the large garden with the burn running through it. Excellent holiday location for walking and with plenty on offer to see and do in the area. Sleeps 4 guests.
Overview:
Marchburn Cottage sleeps 4 guests in 2 twin bedrooms; one with its ensuite bathroom and the other with a shower room. The open plan living area, brand new for 2010 has an excellently equipped handmade kitchen. A Victorian Oak dining room table for dining and cosy sofas to slump in front of the woodburner after a day on the hills.
The owners Paul and Melanie use Marchburn as their family holiday home and have taken great pride in the interior décor. The kitchen is made by Pauls own carpentry company. Melanie has used the Scottish theme for the interiors with tartan soft furnishings and other Scottish related items that give it a home from home touch.
The French windows look out down the glen, and at the great variety of birds feeding on the table. The bathrooms are decked with delights from the Highland Soap Company for guests to indulge in. The garden is large and dog proof, with enough space to park at least 2 cars. 200 yards in front of the cottage runs the South Esk River, where you can enjoy a nice BBQ in the summer months or a stroll along the banks to the Clova Hotel for a welcome break and lunch/supper. Alternatively get a fishing permit from the Hotel and fish in the river or in its own Loch Heath.
The surrounding area offers a host of walking for all abilities, mountain bikes can be hired from the local town – Kirriemuir a 20 minute drive. Golf clubs are too numerous to mention. The coast between Arbroath and Montrose is a 50 minute drive, adding a different contrast scenery to that of the Glen. The childhood home of the Queen Mother – Glamis is close by along with other delights such as the museum of J M Barrie, Scone Palace, Pitmuies gardens. Fishing villages and towns of Dundee and Perth.
Only a 1 ½ hour drive from Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports and with good accessibility to the A90 between Aberdeen and Dundee.
