The Holly Tree Lodge is a luxury 4 bedroom holiday property offering unique accommodation in a stunning setting on the banks of the Blackwater river. Rental includes use of the main house and its annex with sauna. Sleeps 8 (or 10 by arrangement).
Overview:
Holly Tree Lodge enjoys a fantastic rural location on the banks of the Blackwater river, a few mile from the Cairngorm National Park and some of Scotland's best known tourist destinations including Braemar, Pitlochry, Dunkeld, Aberfeldy, the Angus Glens and Blairgowrie. The landscape is spectacular with fertile farmland and rolling hills and, at the head of the glen, some of the highest peaks in Perthshire.
Holly Tree Lodge uses both contemporary and traditional features throughout and makes fantastic use of light and space, allowing the best possible views of the beautiful surrounding hills and countryside. Its open plan kitchen and lounge area provides a great setting for entertaining with family or friends, as does the large external decking area leading on from it. Alternatively, you may choose to relax and unwind in front of the log-burning stove dominating the stunning lounge. Facilities include wireless internet access, Sky TV, laundry facilities and central heating.
The Blackwater river running along the bottom of the extensive, mature garden is stocked with trout and salmon. Trout fishing rights come with the property. Guests are therefore welcome to fish for trout, however for salmon fishing rights you will need to purchase a permit which is available from the local shop. There is a decking area and some seating next to the river where you can sit and fish or just watch the salmon jumping.
There are numerous walks on the doorstep including The Cateran Trail as well as Munros and Corbetts. You can also enjoy world class golf courses, fishing, shooting, stalking, archery, cycling, pony trekking, multi-activities, skiing & snow boarding (weather and snow permitting!). There are a number of pubs and restaurants in the area serving high quality produce, as well as a wider range of shops, restaurants and take-aways in nearby Blairgowrie. Home delivery is also available from certain shops.
Blairgowrie, Pitlochry and Braemar are all within a half hour drive, with Perth and Dundee an hour away. Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen within 2 hours.
There are many castles and distilleries within easy driving distance including the castles of Balmoral, Glamis, Scone and Blair Atholl and distilleries including Bells, Edradour, Famous Grouse and Royal Lochnagar.
Accommodation comprises: Main house with two large double bedrooms on the ground floor and two further large double bedrooms on the first floor. There are three bathrooms (2 x family bathrooms with bath & shower) and one ensuite shower room. The large kitchen has oak worktops and stainless steel appliances and there is the additional benefit of utility room with laundry facilities and freezers. The lounge & dining area is bright and spacious with hardwood flooring and feature log-burning stove. The annex, which is also included in the rental includes; sauna, bathroom, kitchen and large attic studio where you can relax & unwind after a sauna - listen to your favourite tunes or take in a film - alternatively it's also suitable as a children's games room with TV/DVD player, PS2 and CD player.
