Overview:
Highfield Cottage has recently been refurbished to a high standard with all modern facilities and has been tastefully decorated and furnished throughout. Altogether this holiday home offers comfortable peaceful accommodation together with fully modernised catering facilities, ideal for a family or group holiday.
The spacious accommodation consists of entrance porch with cloakroom and separate w/c, leading into the large modern kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with top of the range appliances. Just off the kitchen is the sun lounge which also serves as a dining room. The main lounge is comfortably furnished and has two large sofas, a wood burning stove, TV, DVD player. The three large bedrooms are configured as two double rooms and one twin room. The main bathroom has a toilet, sink and shower over the bath.
With its safe sandy beach, suitable for bathing, and picturesque harbour, 'The Port' is a wonderful place for a holiday. Portmahomack (meaning the port of St Colman) began as an historic Pictish settlement dating back to 800 AD, and is the only monastic Pictish settlement that has been discovered in Scotland. Full details of the archaeological dig can be found in the informative Tarbat Discovery Centre.
Tarbat golf club is a small but testing nine hole links style course and visitors are welcome to enjoy a round or refreshments in the clubhouse Tee up café. The village also hosts the Oystercatcher restaurant and the Castle Hotel where you can enjoy a meal or a beverage overlooking the Dornoch Firth. The Royal Burghs of Tain and Dornoch are a leisurely drive around the Firth, where you can enjoy a tour and a dram at the world famous Glenmorangie distillery, a lovely day out at Dunrobin Castle, or see the Salmon leap at the Falls of Shin.
